What do YOU think??

So I watched a documentary on natural child birth and mid wives today called "The Business of Being Born."  I was expecting to hear the benefits of BOTH sides... and it was completely on how horrible hospital births are. I hate when documentaries are completely one-sided because I watch them from an educational stand point and want to know everything about each side.  So I was really bugged watching it because it made me feel like I am an idiot if I want to have my baby in a hospital.
Now, I have been thinking a lot about what I want to do, and I really think I, personally, would feel more comfortable in a hospital in case something went wrong, like if he's breeched or his heart rate drops, or he's too big and a C-seciton is necessary or anything else.  However, I have been feeling like I may want to try and have Kohen naturally... which I honestly think I won't be able to do haha so I AM aiming more towards seeing how it goes when my contractions start and deciding if I want an epidural when its all happening. But I have 2 more months and I reserve my right to change my mind :) haha I am not very tolerant with pain so I bet I will have an epidural.  The documentary really bothered me, though, because it made hospital births seem dangerous and stressful and hard on the mother and the baby, which honestly did scare me a little, but I know so many people who have had wonderful experiences in the hospital with an epidural. And I also know a few women who have had their babies at home and 100% natural and they loved it.
SO.  I am just interested in what other people think about natural births, home births, and hospital births. I am going with a hospital birth so I'm not looking for opinions on what I personally should do, I am just curious as to what other women think about this subject.  I think every woman has the right to decide for themselves what is best and most comfortable for them and their baby :)

I am 30 weeks today!!! I can't even express how excited I am.  But I can express how impatient I am :)  I want Kohen to be here! But I want him to be healthy and strong so I guess I will just have to practice patience and wait until April 21.  I already love my baby boy so much, and I truely hurt for those who are unable to have children.  I can't imagine the pain those women go through and the trial of accepting it and trying to live with it everyday.  So my heart goes out to them.  I feel so blessed that Heavenly Father has allowed me to be a mom and to prepare to be a parent and to share this experience with a wonderful husband who loves me.  He is amazing. The other day I was having a little breakdown, just from being tired and huge and having an achey back and for a moment feeling very helpless.  He showed me the video below and it really strengthened me.  I am so grateful for the beautiful stance that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has on families, motherhood, and eternity.  I know I can get through anything and YES I am scared of the sleepless nights, the tears, never seeing my husband, and the pressure of raising a child to grow up to be a good man, but I KNOW God loves me and will bless me and give me the strength I need to be a good mom.  I know that with out any doubt in my mind because He lives and He loves each and everyone of us!

Feeling huge today!

Oh my goodness I am getting more and more uncomfortable! I'm only 28 weeks and I am already feeling like I can't get bigger or I will pop! They aren't kidding when they say the third trimester is most uncomfortable haha! It seems like it all hit at once! Aching back, hard to breathe let alone walk, and no sleep. I know it sounds like I'm complaining but I'm really not :) it's just amazing to me the changes your body goes through during pregnancy! It's exciting and scary and so many other emotions all in one :) and I couldn't be more excited to meet my lil guy.
Our friends Zane and Emily just welcomed their little boy, Dreyden, into the world on Sunday! He is so cute! Such a happy thing! Our other good friends Tyson and Shannon also just had their beautiful baby girl, Tenlee, yesterday! So many babies and so many friends for Kohen to meet and play with!! So congrats to them! :)
Trey and I had the opportunity to attend the temple on Wednesday and it was such a beautiful and peaceful experience.  I love going to the temple.  It really is a refuge from the world and I felt so happy being there.  It is such a blessing to have one so close.  I had a some time to think about the wonderful blessing of having an eternal family and that I have my boys forever! And also to know my Heavenly Father is watching over us and wants the very best for us and we just need to keep our faith in Him and trust that he has a plan for us.  I just pray he helps me be patient these next few months! I'm getting so anxious for Kohen to get here!!!! But I want him to be healthy and strong so I GUESS I can wait 2 1/2 more months. Hey I've made it this far... haha!
Here's a pic of the belly! Its getting so big! So I have good reasons for back aches right?? :)

Baby Baby Baby oh :)

This week was one crazy week! For those who aren't up to speed on this whole thing I'll explain quickly.  Since both Trey and I are still covered under our parents insurance we do not have our own yet. SO I have to travel out to California for my appointments since Kaiser is only available there.  Anyway, I drove out with my mom on Tuesday/Wednesday and had my appointment Thursday and flew back Friday to Las Vegas and drove up to Salt Lake yesterday. It was a lot of traveling for a pregnant lady and I now have a cold from all of that :(
Enough whining... haha Kohen is doing very well. He's right on track for his growth and he is a healthy baby.  I am finally 28 weeks along and that means THIRD TRIMESTER!!!! We can't believe how fast it has gone by but then again it seems like forever until we will meet our little Koh-koh bean :)  Since I can't travel after 36 weeks I will be moving out to California to live with my family until the lil man is here.  That is going to be rough since Trey has to stay in Utah and work :(  but we will manage.
Trey is busy trying to get our taxes done and about ready to apply to the University of Utah.  We will hopefully get into the student housing there and get all set up for baby Kohen's arrival. Its going to be a chaotic few months ahead but we are excited to start yet another new chapter :)

Kind of a Prologue

I've been meaning to start blogging for a while now but never really felt like I had anything interesting to share. I actually started a blog before this one... and never kept up on it and I forgot the password and stuff... so I started from scratch haha!
Anyway, today I have really been thinking about how important it is to record events, thoughts, feelings, experiences and lessons I learn for my kids and their kids to read after we have gone. I do have a journal but I really think blogging is a great way, not only for that purpose, but to also allow others to learn or benefit from those things as well.  At least I hope all who read this find something useful, helpful, or uplifting from our blog.  And I hope I will be able to better reflect on my life and appreciate the experiences I go through with a greater meaning.
I know most of you who are reading this probably already know Trey and I, but I want to retell our story thus far in our marriage and our dating life just to have on record.
After I graduated from Calaveras High School (Central California), I moved out to Saint George, Utah to attend school at Dixie State College and live with my mom's sister and her family who helped me so much in my growth as a person and became my second family. After a year of going to school I started working at Jimmy John's Gourmet Sandwiches and this is where I met Trey.  He grew up in Saint George and graduated from Pine View High School.  He served an LDS mission in Chile for two years (2008-2010) and when he got home in August he started working at Jimmy John's as well. Come to find out, he was also in my single's ward at church.
Now if you hear Trey tell this story he has a slightly different version.  I was the ward pianist and Trey came up to me after the meeting and asked if I could give him piano lessons, which I agreed to do.  He asked what I usually did on Sunday's and I told him I spent them at my boyfriends house (which I did).  He thought I was just trying to get a hint across that I wasn't interested in him hitting on me :) So after a couple weeks, I broke up with my boyfriend and I started hanging out with Trey.  I wasn't interested in dating AT ALL, however, and I made it a point to make that clear to Trey.  So we became best friends.  We literally hung out EVERY DAY, along with our best buddy Thomas, and a lot of other kids from the ward.  But Trey and I had a connection and I was scared to admit that to myself.  I wasn't ready for another relationship, and it meant a lot to me that even though Trey was in love with me (haha) he was patient and stuck by my side and earned my trust, while dating other girls and making me insanely jealous in the process!  So, after 3 months of getting to know each other, becoming best friends, and always being there for each other, I was ready to give him a shot.  So November 17 we became "official" and November 18 we decided we wanted to get married!!!! I KNOW WE ARE CRAZY OK??? :) Best decision of my life. Trey proposed on my favorite day of the year, Christmas eve, in California with my family and we were married on March 12, 2011 in the Saint George LDS temple.
Life has been crazy since then, and as you probably can guess we like to take things fast! And we are now expecting our first baby in April :) I get emotional as I talk about our little family right now.  We've had our ups and downs like any marriage, but I am so happy to say I love my husband more and more each day and I know he feels the same.  I am so blessed to have him in my life and as my husband. He has been so wonderful, from working insane hours to none at all for a while to getting an amazing job and still stressing on weather he is doing enough, to dealing with my crazy pregnancy hormones, and my normal girl ones too. He is always there for me to lean on when I am losing faith, or just need a good cry.  He makes me feel like a princess everyday and he is so quick to love me for my imperfections, and to recognize his own and correct them as best he can.  I am so in love with him and the best part is I get to keep him forever! And now we have something that is both of ours to share and raise and love together.  Our baby boy, Kohen Daniel Guernsey will be here in 3 short months and we couldn't be more excited.
Something I have learned while being pregnant is how much Heavenly Father loves me.  I have realized things about myself that I never knew.  I know with out any doubt that He has a plan for me. And I know he has sent me this precious baby to take care of a teach and love so that I can be humbled and learn charity and how to love unconditionally.  I am scared of a lot of things like going through labor, and the sleepless nights ahead of me, and not being adequate, and so much more. But I am NOT afraid that I will have to do it alone. There will be hard times and there will be wonderful times and I know my Heavenly Father and my amazing husband will both be there for me to help me in my weak moments.  I know my Savior, Jesus Christ, went through so much in the garden, and that because of His suffering I can accomplish anything.  I know that through His atonement I can continue to learn and progress and I can be made strong through Him.  I am so thankful to be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  It is what has made me who am I today.  I am not perfect and I have made MANY mistakes in my life. But each day is a new day!
Sorry this was a long first post! I hope it didn't put anyone to sleep :) I'll keep them shorter in the future, but I am excited to be able to share the happenings of our life and hopefully make a difference in yours as well. So get ready because 2012 is going to be a crazy year :)
